Remembering Andres Segovia, the so-called father of the modern classical guitar

Andres Segovia is a Spanish musician with the title of Father of the Modern Classical Guitar. He was born on February 21, 1893 in Linares, Andalusia. Segovia died on June 3, 1987 in Madrid. Segovia is remembered for his expressive performances, varied tone playing and the personality of his musical vision. That’s why, he was nicknamed the Father of Modern Classical Guitar.

Segovia learned to play flamenco in his native Andalusia. As a teenager he studied the repertoire of Bach and many classical music composers. He worked on perfecting his technique of playing classical music on the guitar.
