Phil Collen comments on Motley Crue’s guitar change from Mick Mars to John 5

In a new interview with Linea Rock’s Barbara Caserta, Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen commented on Motley Crue’s decision to hire John 5 as Mick Mars’ replacement.
Mick Mars – Motley Crue’s founding guitarist – announced his retirement from touring last October due to deteriorating health issues.

Meanwhile Phil – who with Def Leppard toured with Motley Crue last summer as part of “The Stadium Tour” and recently launched “The World Tour” commented.
“The thing about Motley Crue, Mick Mars is really hurting. We finished the American Tour with him, and he had physical problems. So it’s great that John 5 showed up,” Phil said.

“John 5 is a great guy and plays great and everything, so he fits in. And he really helped the touring band, because Mick couldn’t do that. Traveling was his problem; he was having problems [with all the traveling]. It was painful. (With John 5) it worked out great.”
