Martijn van Iterson is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz guitarists in Europe. He was born on July 11, 1970, in Leiden, the Netherlands. At a young age, he picked up the guitar and quickly developed a strong passion for jazz.
His early dedication led him to study at the Hilversum Conservatory. He graduated cum laude in 1993. During his studies, he learned under Wim Overgaauw, a pioneer of Dutch jazz guitar. That mentorship gave him the solid foundation that shaped his career.
Martijn van Iterson is not only a performer but also a teacher. He has inspired younger generations of musicians through lessons, workshops, and collaborations. Many Dutch and international jazz artists have recorded with him, enriching the European jazz discography.
He combines respect for jazz traditions with a constant search for innovation. This balance makes him a central figure in the modern jazz guitar world.
