Born on November 27, 1942 in Seattle, United States, with the name Johnny Allen Hendrix, Jimi has been interested in music, especially guitar, since childhood. Guitar heroes of those times, such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Holly, and Robert Johnson, became his idols. He got his first guitar, an acoustic type, from his father in the summer of 1958. With that capital he joined The Velvetones. And since then his life path has been outlined.

With The Velvetones Jimi only joined for three months. The following summer, armed with a new electric guitar he had gotten, again, from his father, Jimi joined The Rocking Kings. After that, Jimi had time to join military service and form a band in the barracks, but not for long. An injury caused him to be removed from service. A big change occurred when, as a guitarist who was already full of playing with various artists, in 1966, he met Chas Chandler, the bass player for the band Animals who had the hit The House of the Rising Sun.
