James Donald Root (born 2 February 1971) known as #4 is one of the guitarists in Slipknot and former guitarist in Stone Sour. with a height of 198 cm, making him the tallest member in the band.

James joined Slipknot after previous guitarist Josh Brainard left the band during the recording of the album “Slipknot”. the singer Corey Taylor invited James to join because he knew him while joining Stone Sour.
