Reviewing the latest Fender, Ibanez, or Gibson stuff is always fun, but to some degree you’re never really that surprised with the result. Atleast, you’re never really positively surprised, maybe just negatively by poor QC. That’s where reviewing gear from newer, less established brands can be so much more fun.
This Cream Guitars Voltage fits that description to a T, providing something new, exciting, and surprisingly brilliant. In what can be best described as a reversed Explorer-body style, the Voltage is quite different from my beloved Gibson.
Each Voltage model you can find from Cream Guitars is a bit different, though they seem to hover around $2000 USD and have lots of customizable features. This model sports two Seymour Duncan Blackout humbuckers, a 3-way switch, and tone plus volume controls.
Some of the coolest features include the use of a tune-o-matic bridge paired with the string through body saddles. The headstock is also brilliant, with this hallowed aluminum design, and the guitar’s neck connects all the way to the bridge via a brass insert. This Voltage is one of their resin/glitter bodies, though they also come in traditional wood variants.
The neck was ultra thin and fast, with a very comfortable and high-quality feel. This specific has a roasted maple neck and fretboard, ratio graphtech locking tuners, and a graphtech nut as well.
