Fuji Rock Festival: Japan’s Premier Outdoor Music Event

Fuji Rock Festival

The Fuji Rock Festival, organized by SMASH, is Japan’s largest outdoor music festival and a pioneer in the country’s rock scene. The first edition took place in 1997 at the Fuji Tenjinyama Ski Resort in Yamanashi. Since 1999, the event has been held annually at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata.

Despite its name, Fuji Rock is not limited to rock music. The festival presents a wide variety of genres, including pop, jazz, folk, and even traditional Japanese music. Each year, more than 200 artists from around the world perform across multiple stages.

Set against a scenic mountain backdrop, Fuji Rock is known for its diverse lineup and unique atmosphere. Tens of thousands of fans attend each summer, enjoying not only live performances but also outdoor activities. Over the years, it has become more than just a music festival—it is a cultural landmark in Japan’s summer music scene.
