Denver Guitar Festival & Competition

The Denver Guitar Festival & Competition is an annual event hosted by the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, celebrating classical guitar through performances and competitions. The 2025 festival is scheduled for September 8, 2025, at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, Hamilton Hall.​ 

🎸 Youth Competition

  • Date & Time: September 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Eligibility: Open to classical guitarists aged 18 and under as of September 6, 2024
  • Format: Single round with a 7-minute performance limit
  • Judges: Laura Husbands and Jonathan Leathwood  

🏆 Awards Ceremony

  • Date & Time: September 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
  • Location: Newman Center for the Performing Arts, Hamilton Hall
  • Prizes:
    • 1st Prize: $500 and a $30,000 scholarship
    • 2nd Prize: $300 and a $25,000 scholarship
    • 3rd Prize: $150 and a $20,000 scholarship
    • 4th Prize: $50 and a $15,000 scholarship *Scholarships are contingent upon meeting the University of Denver’s admission standards. ​
