Famous jazz fusion guitar master Al Di Meola suffered a heart attack while performing his live show in Bucharest, Romania, at the city’s Arenele Romane. As reported by Digi24 (via Romania Insider), the 69-year-old musician was playing his show at the venue on Wednesday, September 27, and was then rushed to the Bagdasr-Arseni Hospital sometime around midnight local time. The source further adds that “four stents were placed in his heart” and that his condition is currently stable.

Associated Press reported that a photographer who attended the show, Dragos Cristescu, noticed that the guitarist was gripping his chest during the concert and that he “struggled to walk off stage.” The two Al Di Meola’s band members continued to play for a while until they announced that the performance was cut short.

Bagdasar-Arseni emergency hospital also stated that the musician was admitted and that Al “is being treated for a segment elevation myocardial infarction.”
