
Akira Takasaki (born February 22, 1961, in Osaka) is a Japanese guitarist and the founding member of the heavy metal band LOUDNESS. He first gained fame in the late 1970s with the idol rock band Lazy. In 1981, driven by his passion for hard rock, he formed LOUDNESS with drummer Munetaka Higuchi.
Takasaki is celebrated for his fast and precise playing. His innovative tapping style influenced international guitarists, including Paul Gilbert. He soon became recognized as one of Japan’s greatest guitarists. Today, he is the only original member still performing with LOUDNESS.
Outside of the band, Takasaki has explored many projects. He created the solo act JI-ZO, wrote music for anime, and worked with international musicians. His collection of vintage and custom guitars is also famous. Several signature models have been released with Killer Guitars and Seymour Duncan.
With his unique tone and strong stage presence, Takasaki continues to inspire guitarists worldwide. His lasting impact on both Japanese rock and the global metal scene makes him a respected and influential figure in music.
