Enno Voorhorst (born in The Hague, Netherlands) is a Dutch classical guitarist admired for his lyrical interpretations, refined technique, and emotional depth. Raised in an artistic family, he grew up surrounded by creativity—his mother was a singer and his father a painter. This environment shaped his early sensitivity to expression, which later defined his musical style.
Education and Musical Training
Voorhorst began formal studies with Hein Sanderink before moving to Cologne, where he trained under Hubert Käppel at the Musikhochschule. During this time, he also received guidance from world-renowned guitarist David Russell, who inspired him to develop a more expressive and personal approach. The combination of solid technical training and artistic mentorship laid the foundation for his professional career.
Career Breakthrough
In 1987, Enno Voorhorst achieved a breakthrough when he won first prize at the International Guitar Competition in Hof, Germany. He soon followed this with more victories, including the Dutch Guitar Prize at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw (1992) and the Seto-Ohashi Competition in Japan (1992). These achievements positioned him as one of Europe’s most promising young guitarists.
International Recognition
After these successes, Voorhorst began performing widely across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His concerts earned praise for their warmth, precision, and ability to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level.
