Batiksoul Guitars was Established in Surakarta, Central Java in 2011, By Guruh Sabdo Nugroho “Guge Nugroho”. For nearly 2 years ( 2012-2014) Guruh as luthier and his batik artisan conducted trials applying natural dyed batik to solidwood such as spruce, mahogany,  maple, and  figured mango. Trials need to be carried out to find out effect the batik process has on sound quality and resonance on solidwood instrument.

Most of the wood material comes from the best indonesian solidwood and 80% is indonesian exotic woods which is realized  to the best Batiksoul Instruments, like a figured mahogany from south of java, Figured mango from south of java, Trembesi Wood (Albasia saman), and Indian Rosewood from south of Java ( Dalbergia Latifoila). By this time, the community of Batiksoul Guitar enthusiasts had grown considerably. Players and collectors were attracted by Batiksoul uniqueness, tone, quality, luxury design, and by the fact that Batiksoul is “not mass-produced”.
